Charanya Lakshmikumaran

In her career spanning over 15 years Charanya has handled high stakes and controversial disputes in areas relating to commercial, constitutional, tax, regulatory. She regularly appears before the Supreme Court of India, various High Courts, National Company Law Tribunals (NLCTs) and National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT). Her clients include leading automotive, FMCG, Pharmaceutical, infrastructure, MSMEs, e-commerce, e-gaming, energy, and Oil & Gas companies among others. She represents clients in mediations, pre-arbitral proceedings, and arbitrations involving range of corporate-commercial transactions relating to transfer of business, infrastructure, insurance, government projects among others.

Charanya has also worked in the Chamber of K.K. Venugopal, the former Attorney General of India. While at the chamber of Mr. Venugopal, she has worked on a wide range of subjects ranging from constitutional law, arbitration, competition law. She has also assisted the Attorney General in landmark cases such as the inclusion of Right to Privacy as a fundamental Right, the challenge to the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code. She has also assisted him in advising various public sector undertakings and government ministries including the Ministry of Information & Technology, Ministry of Environment & Forest, Ministry of Corporate Affairs and Railways.

Charanya also handles disputes before various regulatory bodies including the Competition Commission of India. She represents India on the Cartel Committee of the Asia Competition Association. She has advised clients extensively on Data Protection and is assisting them in transitioning their business to be compliant with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act.

Charanya has been recognized as an Asian Legal Business Top 15 Southeast Asia Litigator 2023 and Asian Legal Business India Rising Stars for 2022 and Next generation Partner by Legal 500 Asia Pacific in 2019 & 2020 and as one of the top 15 dispute resolution lawyers in India and top 50 disputes lawyers in Asia by Asian Legal Business.

She is also a professional Indian Classical vocalist and performs at select events across India.
