His transactional experience spans domestic and cross-border transactions involving listed as well as unlisted companies. He routinely advises private equity funds, multinational companies, promoters as well as start-ups. His practice is particularly focused on the healthcare, technology, telecommunications, agri-business, and automotive sectors.

Hemant is frequently involved in advising on foreign exchange regulations, securities regulations, general corporate matters, technology, data-protection and privacy issues.

He has been a legal-tech entrepreneur and has deep expertise in deploying technology-based solutions to automate and optimise in-house legal workflows. His key representations include: (a) advising on structuring and diligence in relation to a complex merger in the telecommunications sector that involved a company listed on an Indian stock exchange with another Indian company with its securities listed on Nasdaq that resulted in a merged entity of a valuation of more than INR 15,000 crore; (b) acting for a reputed Mauritius-based PE fund on a cumulative foreign investment of USD 120 million into two Indian agribusiness entities that involved a complex hiving-off of the food-processing unit from a listed company; (c) advising a leading global network of exchanges and clearing houses on its USD 150 million acquisition of a Singapore-based commodity exchange from an Indian parent that was under investigation for a range of financial irregularities; and (d) representing a Fortune-500 company on its acquisition, on a slump-sale basis, of the business of a Pune-based manufacturer of gear-boxes and gear-operators.
