The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had earlier issued guidelines for licensing of e-Commerce food business entities under Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration) Regulations.
Recently, the FSSAI had raised its concern regarding compliance to the guidelines and had asked E-commerce food service platforms to delist defaulting Food Business Operators (FBOs). They were, inter alia, also asked to promote food safety and hygiene amongst listed FBOs.
Subsequently, the FSSAI has conveyed through press release about decision to conduct audit of E-commerce platforms to check compliances with the Food safety laws.
