Seminar on Service Tax - Analysis of Recent Changes

The Institute of Business Laws, with Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan as Knowledge Partner, is organizing a seminar  ‘Service Tax – An Analysis of Recent Changes’ to guide manufacturers, service providers, exporters, importers and others from trade and commerce. The seminar is being held in New Delhi on 20th April, 2012.

Finance Bill, 2012 proposes to change the basis for levy of Service Tax. From specified services at present, Service Tax is set to be levied on almost all services based on negative list. All stake holders need to prepare in advance for smooth implementation of changes in their system and procedures once the new regime comes into force.

Budget 2012 has brought significant changes in Service Tax provisions. Besides increasing the Service Tax rate to 12%, this year’s Budget has also amended Service Tax provisions to provide for payment of Service Tax on receipt basis upto certain limit, self-adjustment facility without limit and increase in composition rates. Point of Taxation Rules have been amended significantly leaving scope for new issues and complications on payment of tax and continuous supply of services.

In this seminar, experts from Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan will explain and discuss Service Tax changes proposed / made in this year’s budget and guide the participants in devising compliance strategies on new law and procedures in Service Tax.
